What do I need to do to get started with DataAssist?

Are the Repeat Region and Repeat Selection server behaviors different?

The repeat region server behavior is a built-in Dreamweaver server behavior. It is used to turn the display of a single record into a display of multiple records from your recordset.

The repeat selection server behavior is a DataAssist server behavior. It is primarily used in combination with the repeat region server behavior to do more advanced displays of records. Using repeat selection along with the repeat region server behaviors you can create a display for your records that repeats horizontally, then drops down to the next line to repeat vertically until all your records are displayed.

Why is the template area not accessible when my site uses a template?

In order to use a template in DataAssist, it must meet the following requirements:

The template must be stored in the default Templates folder of your defined site.
This template must have a file extension that matches the server model you selected in the testing server area. For example if you are using PHP your template will need to be named templatename.dwt.php.

Will DataAssist create the forms for the server behaviors?

The DataAssist wizard will generate all the pages you need to manipulate the data for a particular table in your database, including the forms on these pages that make them work.

If you are applying an individual server behavior to a page DataAssist will not generate the forms, it relies on you having created your custom form first, or having the form created beforehand with the wizard.

Can I create an advanced search using the DataAssist Wizard?

Using the DataAssist wizard you will be able to configure search functionality for a given table. However, if you want to apply more advanced search functionality you will need to do so after using the wizard.

Open your results page and edit the DataAssist Search server behavior. In the server behavior interface you will have the ability to create more advanced search functionality.
