Hi i have set up the connection and everything except when i try going to the step it shows no tables key collumns or templates to go to the next step
does the database you used when setting up the connection have any tables in it?
before starting with data assist, your database needs to be populated with tables to work with.
we offer an eCommerce database that you can use for getting started:
ecommerce-database/
the templates menu will only be populated if you have created templates for your site.
yes well what do you actually need to do to start the data assist iam new to php
did you read my previous reply?
showpost.php?p=119322&postcount=2
before using data assist, you need to have a database configured with tables in the database.
you also need to properly configure your dreamweaver site for dynamic development and set up your testing server. It sounds like you have done these two or you would not be able to create the database connection. It sounds like you have a database created that does not contain any tables.
i have sorted the problem out i have uploaded a database to the mysql server and its working fine. With the demo database from webassist iam only wanting to use the following catergories:
Products.
Product options.
Product categories.
How do i delete the other tables from the database or if i leave them will they do any harm ?
there is a you tube video here:
watch?v=gajiag1Hnno
deleting tables using PHPMyAmdin, however, leaving the unused tables in place will not do any harm.
Thanks for that i have decided to leave the database as it is it might come in handy.
What iam trying to create is a database that will work under these links on this site.
theme_01_design.php
So the products will be under the catagories for the links and the products under the catagories is it possible to do can you help please ?
the data assist wizard will allow you to create search and results pages for the product table, it can be created to search for products based on the category.
the search page will send to the results page a querystring variable based on the category that was selected.
you will need to change the links in your menu to point to the results page using the same querystring variable.
Ok well to be honest i thought data assist was suppose to make it easy and its not really easy at all a waste really of money really if anyway one reads this thread and can do this for me that would be great
