Can 4.5.2 accomplish this?

Can 4.5.2 accomplish this?

I currently have eCart 4.5.2 and am putting together a site that will sell 2 or 3 digital products that need to be downloaded after purchase, 2 products that would be shipped, and a couple of services that would be paid for online. We would be using Paypal as payment processor.

Can 4.5.2 handle this? Any reason I need to upgrade?

Thank you!

yes, you can do this in eCart 4, you would need security assist and the file manipulation aspects of either Universal Email or css form builder to create the download center as well.

I recommend using PayPal Pro as the gateway service, using paypal standard with digital downloads can be done, but is extremely problematic.

I assume the strategy is to create an account for the customer so they login and can download their purchase? Is that the best way to do this or is there a better way?

yes, there are tutorials on the eCart support page for integrating security assist in the checkout pages and creating a download center page.

Hi Jason,

I went ahead and upgraded eCart, Security Assist, and Form Builder and am putting this site together. Gotta be honest I'm a little confused where to start. Do I start with eCart pages, then add Register & Login pages to that, and then add the Download from Customer history at the end?

I'd really aprpeciate a push in the right direction.

Thank you!

I would start with the registration, user login aspects, then create the cart and checkout pages, lastly create the download center.

What is the trick to create the registration, login, eCart, checkout, and download center pages on exisiting pages in my site? I'm hoping that there are better ways to do this other than copying and pasting the code into my pages?

Thanks!

if you are trying to do it on existing pages in your site, you wont be able to rely on the wizards to create the functionality for you, you will need to create it manually.

for example, the registration page, you would need to manually create the registration form, and then add the Insert record Behavior. To create the login, create the login form, then add the security assist Authenticate user behavior. etc...

Ok, I would have never guessed that. It appears then that the easiest thing to do is output the pages via the wizards and then copy and paste the code into my pages. Good to know.

Thanks

copying and pasting the code is not a good idea. It's a better idea to let the wizard create the pages, then apply your design to the pages that are created.
