Images in Product Options

I was not sure whether to raise this question under Data Assist or eCart. But here goes anyway.

I am building a shopping cart using eCart & Data Assist among a few others WA add ons in Dreamweaver CS5. When it comes to the product options I have had a hard time getting my head around how it works but I think I am getting there. I would just like some advice on two issues. I am putting in options for colour and size as one would expect in a clothing shop. My customer wants me to display front and back images of each product and also show the correct colour on these images when chosen.

Question 1 - How do I include image1 & image2 in product options and is this the best place?

Question 2 - How do I keep a track of stock in the various sizes and colours as technically I will have only 6 products with one stock field (T-Shirts, Jackets etc) but a multitude of options.

Storing all the info in the product table would work but hold heaps of repeat data and be a nightmare to fill initially. There must be a more elegant solution and any help will be most appreciated.

1) changing the image that is displayed when a different option is displayed will take some custom coding using javascript, you will need to hand code a javascript function that will trigger when the option is selected to change the image to the correct one corresponding to the selected option.

if you need help with this, I would suggest signing up for a premiere ticket appointment where we could work with you in a one on one session to implement this.

2) if you look at the eCommerce database that we offer, product options are implemented using a linking table to create a many to many relationship of option to product.

the productoptions table holds information that is unique to the option for a specific product, this would include inventory.

the inventory should be stored in the productoptions linking table.

Many thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I was thinking along more simplistic lines in having optionCategoties with colour, size and image and then using dynamic drop down menu with these categories in the options input page so that when images is chosen file upload box appears instead of a text box.
I am quite comfortable with storing 2 images per colour per product line as this will be a manageable quantity. Currently 60 images.
Do you think this will work?

yes, that sounds like it should work ok.
