MenuWriter and Android

I have a horizontal menu that is above a flash slideshow. I the sub-menus appear over the top of the flash area the way they should in desktop browsers but the sub-menus are hiding behind the flash when using an Android smartphone (not sure about IPhone or other). Has anyone experienced this and have a solution?

That's interesting but it does not solve the problem. Smartphones are certainly gaining popularity. If clients want smartphone compatibility, then we'll need to know the fixes or the work-a-rounds to accommodate them. Right now, if anyone has a solution, I would like to learn more.

My suggestion would be to have a detection script that can figure out what type of device the visitor is using and redirect them to a few pages that are designed specifically for the mobile/tablet user. That is how I do it now.

The philosophy is that mobile users want a different type of information than the casual desktop/laptop user.

Meaning they are mobile so they may want directions to your business, or just less reading, or shorter forms to fillout.

These are not just my opinions they are from case studies and seo work I have done.

Contact me and I will show you a solution to your problem. To see it in play visit my website on your smart phone and then on your desktop.

Thanks Rob,

Of course, the problem is with Flash and the wmode. Hopefully they'll fix it soon. I have certainly considered creating a separate layout for the portable devices. Obviously, IPads are a real problem with Flash too. I was hoping there would be an easy fix.

I'll take a look at your website. Thanks for the invitation and thanks for your input and opinion. It is appreciated.

Paul
