Create new theme from scratch?

Create new theme from scratch?

I would like to create my own theme from scratch.

I have studied the theme layout and have a pretty good grasp of how the different plugins work.

I really want to know if I can use my own theme and do away with the configurable css and the design part of the admin. I want to put everything in my new themes main css form.

Is this possible?
Would I hard code something in theme_open.php to go straight to my theme?

I am afraid that this will blow everything up.

I love the features of powerstore but I am not crazy about the designs. Having to go through the admin to change colors and everything else is a pain.
My normal workflow is to create a comp in fireworks and slice it up into various components. Then move over to Dreamweaver layout my fireworks comp with css and add navigation and contnent.

I would just like to be able to add the powerstore plugins to my design. I have all of the webassist extensions but laying out an admin as advanced as powerstore is a little over my head.
I am sure that what I am asking is over the scope of this forum but if it is possible I would be willing to pay for a premium support ticket.

Yes, it is possible to create your own theme and use it in power, if you would like to schedule a premiere ticket, we can help you accomplish this.

Jason,

why would this process not be part of the standard documentation ?

adding custom themes is not a supported feature in Power Store.

may I ask why ?

From this page
php-scripts-and-solutions/

Each pre-built PHP solution provides you with all the required source files, images, and database settings so you can easily customize any feature you want.

and

PowerStore A complete pre-built online store with content management, starting point themes, and a complete administrative backend.

I am not trying to be difficult, though god knows some of the questions I ask can be obtuse, I just want to understand why custom themes are not supported

neilo

PowerStore Admin looks excellent, although I have not ever implemented PowerStore on a 'working' site.

I would not use the available front-end designs, as they all seem a bit Janet and John to me - a bit indelicate - a bit clunky (for my taste) - and also lacking any facility for 'real' design changes - the kind that a client might require as a fit for their existing website/corp image. They all seem to be 'of a kind'.

Tempting though. But instead I am wading through DataAssist and eCart (plus the rest) to produce what is probably a less efficient, less integrated solution.

I thought that design possibilities that hopped outside of the WebAssist mould would be easily possible and supported too.

You can't mistake a PowerStore site when you see one, which would be fine if there were just a handful of them out there, but none of the designs are entirely to my taste - or as yet to a client's taste.

My humble opinion.

We dont support any modifications to the PHP Solutions, though if it is a simple code change, we will give suggestions.

All PHP Solution packs are sold as is, this is why we have the demo sites in place so that customers can see first hand before purchasing what the solution is capable of doing.

Power Store themes are created using the theme architecture of framework builder, so you can create your own, but you will need a certain level of familiarity with the existing themes in power store to be successful.

It does seem a little crazy that there is no guide for this.

Shelling out another hundred bucks for a 30min phone call seems a little bit ridiculous considering that I have spent thousands of dollars with web assist.

I don't want to sound completely rude but $100 for 1/2 of phone support - come on!

I think your post crossed mine, see my reply in post 7.

It is not $100 for 1/2 hour _phone support_, it is one on one instruction.

Is it plausible to think one could grasp the concept of creating a theme from scratch in a 30 min phone call? Has anyone utilized before? Success?
