Just cannot get it to work

This is very annoying as I know it's something I'm not doing right as I have done this successfully in the past.

This is just two drop downs, one parent, one child and the child does not populate. Attached is the page and database.

Any ideas?

your rsLocationsChild recordset does not return the Region column that you are using as the parent ID:

$query_rsLocationsChild = "SELECT `Group ID`, `Group Locator`, Region FROM groups";

change that to:

$query_rsLocationsChild = "SELECT Region, `Group ID`, `Group Locator`, Region FROM groups";

Hi Jason, thanks for the reply.

Not wishing to take issue with you but the Region column was in there already. However I moved it to the front of the list as that's how you presented it but that made no difference, it still doesn't work.

Any other ideas?

Sorry about that, guess I need more coffee this morning.

the problem is caused by using the name location for the child select list. This is a reserved variable name in javascriot used for the location property of the window object.

I got the dynamic dropdowns working by renaming the select lists to:
sel_region
sel_location

I wish all I needed was a cup of coffee! I need a brain transplant.

Many thanks as always Jason. Works a treat now.
