Security Assist SQL problem

Hello,

I have set up a database using MySQL for password protecting three different pages of my website. I haven't gone live with my website yet. In Dreamweaver CS5 when I test the live view of my website, it operates like it should in requiring me to type in a username and password before accessing the website. However, when I test the website on a different computer using a testing server, it gives me the following error message:

Warning: mysql_pconnect() [function.mysql-pconnect]: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2) in /data/17/1/17/31/1832194/user/1987704/htdocs/htdocs/Connections/NWRAINBOW.php on line 9

Fatal error: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2) in /data/17/1/17/31/1832194/user/1987704/htdocs/htdocs/Connections/NWRAINBOW.php on line 9

What can I do to correct this?

In the connection file, what did you use for the MySQL Address?

If you used localhost, try using the loop back IP address instead:
127.0.0.1

I am finally ready to launch my website but still need to correct this problem. I tried to find a connections file and perhaps I am looking in the wrong place.

I am using Xampp and Dreamweaver CS5. I thought I had everything working correctly but can't seem to find anything that gives me options in terms of Connections. I am using the testing/remote server connections inside Dreamweaver and while it lets me choose MySQL, it doesn't let me edit any settings for it.

Perhaps I am in the wrong place??

So I tried to set up my MySQL connection in the database section. I was able to input all the information until I hit select next to database at the bottom of the box.

Then I receive this error:
MySQL Error #2013. Lost connection to MySQL server at 'reading initial communication packet', system error: 111.

Help? I have no idea what this means...

where you are entering the connection info for the remote server, you will not be able to select the database, you will need to log into the remote server and make note of the database name, then enter the database name manually.

So I tried to follow your solution and am still receiving errors. It keeps referring to a nwrainbow.php that I have never had created and do not currently have either.

I have included some information - this is the error message and I have attached a screen of my myPHPadmin.

MySQL Connection.
Connection Name: Corries
MySQL Server: 127.0.0.1
User name: root
Password: I assigned in system
Database: passwords (this is what they are called in the MyPHPadmin - not sure what is right but I have tried to use passwords, corrie passwords, and corrie in this field to no avail)
