Cannot Log Into Administration Screen

My client reported this morning that she could not log into the PowerGallery admin screen using the username/password that had been working. She is right... I cannot log in either.

The username and password worked last week, and we have not changed it. And, it had a strong password that would not be guessed.

I am not getting the error messages reported in last week's post here. I am just seeing: ERROR: Please login to access the requested page.

Is there a programming fix? How do I reset the user name and password so we can administer the gallery?

Could This Have Been Caused by a New global.php?

After I established the gallery and the password, the gallery was very slow (see showthread.php?t=19772 ). Jason had me upload a new global.php that he posted on the Forum.

Could that have mucked with password? What can I do?

Client is unpleasantly impatient!

that should not have any effect on the password.

you can try resetting the password by changing it directly in the database, Your host should offer a website control panel with PHPMyAdmin to edit the database directly, the admin username and password are set in the wa_settings table.

you mention password strength, it is possible that characters like double quotes or single quotes in the password may cause the password to fail.

Hi, Jason.

When I change the database password in the hosting service control panel, PowerGallery can not connect to the database. I get errors that look like they're from MySQL.

So, I changed the database password back, and now I see the PowerGallery Admin logon screen. It still doesn't let me in.

The password contains no special characters, so no quotations. Just alphanumeric, including some capital letters.

So, the SQL database password is fine. PowerGallery can connect to it, apparently. But there's password to get into the Admin gallery that needs to be reset or recovered or something.

WA_Settings Show the Username and Password I Expect

First, I am not a database or PHP person. I bought this as a solution, but I don't know the settings.

I did find a way to dump the current values of database vairables. I looked at admin_username and admin_password. They are the text values I expected and have been using.

Here is a screen dump of the database values

This is what I scraped from the hosting service...

Updated Username and Password in Table -- No Help

I went in and edited the username and password. The problem did not go away.
And, to confirm, the system is NOT complaining about a bad username or password, it's saying:

ERROR: Please login to access the requested page. There's a big red X to the left of this message.

I don't know if this is what is returned when a bad user/password combination is returned, or if it is complaining about something else.

My Fault

Ray helped me discover that when I uploaded the global.php patch I referred to in an earlie4r post, I uploaded it to /admin_gallery and not to the right folder, /galleries.
