starting address entered by site vistor? how-to

the starting guide to pro google maps says that it is possible to have the option of the site visitor entering in their beginning address and the how to is in the SOLUTIONS RECIPES downloads. area of the website....... i looked thru all those downloads there....and it does not say how to do this? please help and thanks.
