Integrating USPS API Key

Thread began 12/10/2010 5:09 pm by connie386947 | Last modified 12/13/2010 11:08 am by Jason Byrnes | 3028 views | 1 replies |

Integrating USPS API Key

I have obtained my API key from the USPS, but the email I received from USPS along with the key has me thoroughly confused. It referred me to a "Developer's Guide" and tells me I need to be a whole lot more experienced than I am in order to integrate USPS.

THE USPS gives me two "testing server" URLs, "depending on the API". Huh?

I have to run tests, then call USPS and have them activate something?

I guess the question I'm asking you is, How much programming experience do I need to be able to integrate shipping with the USPS??? Am I going to have to hire someone to integrate the shopping cart? I'm a novice.

I know that there are fields in the PowerStore4 set up for my API key, and I have applied the key the USPS provided to me. But there is nothing in the Admin area to apply a password.

Is the Server URL that is automatically populated in my PowerStore Admin the correct URL I need to use, or should I be using one of the testing servers provided by USPS?

As you can see, I'm at a loss. Any advice you can provide will be deeply appreciated.

All you need to enter is the API Key.

The URL in power tore is for the production server, you will need to contact USPS to have your account upgraded for to use the production server.

Use the production server URL if your account has been upgraded, use the testing server URL if your account has not been upgraded.
