Integrating USPS API Key

I have obtained my API key from the USPS, but the email I received from USPS along with the key has me thoroughly confused. It referred me to a "Developer's Guide" and tells me I need to be a whole lot more experienced than I am in order to integrate USPS.

THE USPS gives me two "testing server" URLs, "depending on the API". Huh?

I have to run tests, then call USPS and have them activate something?

I guess the question I'm asking you is, How much programming experience do I need to be able to integrate shipping with the USPS??? Am I going to have to hire someone to integrate the shopping cart? I'm a novice.

I know that there are fields in the PowerStore4 set up for my API key, and I have applied the key the USPS provided to me. But there is nothing in the Admin area to apply a password.

Is the Server URL that is automatically populated in my PowerStore Admin the correct URL I need to use, or should I be using one of the testing servers provided by USPS?

As you can see, I'm at a loss. Any advice you can provide will be deeply appreciated.

Connie
