Powerstore 4 - Thanks

Just wanted to say thanks to WA for once again making Powerstore despite all the feedback given and al the support problems US only again.

Still no real mention unless you read the FAQ. In the features it does say "Global Vairable Settings" why oh why did this not extend to currency.

Even the forms ALL US orientated even if that was at least global it would have made it easier to customise.

I hate to complain as you make some really good products but doesn't anyone regard feedback from Non-US clients?

We had lots of feature requests that we were able to include and in this case foreign currency support just missed the cut. Mostly because we felt that our developer audience could add that on thier own and we wanted to make sure to tackle the more difficult features. We will be making sure to add foreign currency to the top of the list for the next update.

When you say update is that update or new full release?

I can change the currency its just time consuming especially with 4 skins now..

But I'll leave it at theat.

It will probably be the next full release, since we'll likely have to include UK, Canada, and Australia at least, and we'll likely want to add shipping options for those three locations as well and probably even some better tax options to really make sure we have it properly covered.

Luckily the 4 skins use the theme concept from framework builder, so they all use the same base code and it will still only need to be updated once although maybe slightly harder to find since we also use the plugin concept from framework builder so the code may not actually be on the page where you see it displayed.

We do take all requests seriously, and really foreign currency support was given a lot of consideration, but with all of the other great features we have added we just ran out of time and budget to fit it into this update and we wanted to make sure that when we did do it we did it right.

I certainly agree this version is a major leap from the previous version.

Paypal standard would that need changing for UK use or is that same setup?

All you'd have to do for the paypal standard is change the hidden form element from currency code "USD" to "GBP" and that would do it. Everything else should be the same.

Hi Ray,

Your exchange with Mike (UK) seems to give evidence that all other foreign customers (France, Germany,...) are now out of the run as Webassist has considerably changed its policy and focusing primarily on the English speaking community ?

It's a pity as your products are great and should be made easily accessible to non-English customers and developers as well. Until now I made all translations and adaptions by myself to PS2 and PS3, and are running fine, but a time consuming undertaking which could be used for more productive development issues.

I do also regret the unilateral cancellation by Webassist (and especially the short notice of roughly 2 weeks) of the Extension Library Subscription for which I'm now obliged to purchase the Super Suite to maintain my development environment operational. A big drawback ! Please also take notice that Super Suite is advertised for 799.99$ on its page but advertised for 699.99$ on the FEATURES tabs in the Dynamic and CSS Design Suites. What's the final price ? I sent an email to Micheal (LESKE), but got no feedback yet !

PS4 is now serialized (license) and limited to a testing site and an online site. Is that correct ?

If so, what happens to developers who'd like to use this usage limit of 2 licenses for coming customers (for which a new purchase of PS4 is mandatory I guess and also limited to 2 licenses). Having purchased a first package of PS4 with 2 licenses (but only ONE license number !!!) wherefore 1 license is for testing (or developing) usage and the remaining for the customers site (final product/solution), may I use the 2 licenses of the next mandatory purchase of PS4 for customers usage solely or not ? While PS4 is actually sold with only ONE LICENSE NUMBER, it seems impossible to use the same number for two distinct customers ! If that is the fact, all developers shall have to purchase a PS4 bundle for each customer's development. Is that the retail policy set by Webassist for PS4 ?

May I suggest a more flexible alternative (2 different license numbers per PS4 bundle, e.g.) to developers. That should increase the attractiveness of PS4, shouldn't it, and increase the sales for sure ? Please, do also consider that the growing demand of customers (sophistication of design, and so on) is not completely covered by the PowerStore solutions, thus needing rather important and time consuming modifications in design, functionality, dynamics and security. I recently noticed on the web a growing offer of developers from countries where salaries are far below US and EU standards. To keep up with competition the basic investment should be reasonable !
