Dynamic Suite - Having Troubles Putting It All Together?

Dynamic Suite - Having Troubles Putting It All Together?

So i have built my database including the following tables: Countries - Groups - Itemcategory - items - orderdetails - orders - orderstatustypes - states_provinces - visitors

I have ran through the Data Assist Wizard for the following tables: Items - Order Details - Orders - Visitors

All of the search, update, results pages are working perfectly. The Visitor pages are logging in and I am able to update, change password.

Now when I get to the ecart part everything goes to crap! The "FREE Documentation & Tutorials for ecart" link is broken and has been for a week or so? I may be over thinking this but I do not understand the dynamically driven pages here? My website is www.rainbowracing.com - I am trying to sell all (174 products) generic products. Since I created the database I was assuming that adding the add to cart buttons to the item detail & result pages would make this really fast and easy!!!!

I added an ecart object & button to the items_detail & items_result pages and when I open the item_search page in dreamweaver, upload to Safari, choose a product to highlight, click on the add to cart button and nothing happens. If I try to change the quantity and then add to cart it changes the quantity back to 1 - I did check and it is set to 1 and updateable?????

I don't know how to put it all together? I want to keep my current website as is and add a link to the generic db somewhere, I think (suggestions)? do I add buttons to the static items and then have them link to a detail page?

I am so frustrated, please just tell me how the blocks fit together - Navigating through your site, I cannot figure out what I am suppose to do next to make my site function correctly!!!

SUGGESTION: It would be great if the tutorials wether video or pdf would include troubleshooting. Including "what if this happens" - "check this out" solution.

Pages Not Working At ALL Now!

Well before I created my cart.php page the following pages were test and working correctly: items_search - items_Results - items_details - Visitor_login

Now when I open the search page in dreamweaver and then check it out in Safari I see my category list but if I choose a category or just hit search i get blank white pages.... no error messages either! I want to shoot myself right fkning now!!!! I do not understand how going through the ecart tutorial has changed the above pages to not function. I have created and tested each stage of the game here and now I just want to cry.... I have been working on this for 3 months now and feel like I am getting nowhere!!!! I am starting to wonder if I purchased the wrong extensions here..... I believe that these program extensions have falsely been advertised. I taught myself flash & dreamweaver from books faster and much easier than this!

UUUGGGHHHH! What did I do wrong????

If you are getting 'white pages', paste the following code at the very top of your php page..

<?php
error_reporting(E_ALL);
ini_set('display_errors','on');
?>

this should help you debug.

i just checked the getting started guide for ecart and it seems to work ok.

here is a link...

ecart_gsg.php

PS Webassist, the print link for ecart_ssl_ht.php doesn't work.

E-cart Button Problems

Thank you! Do you know where I am suppose to place the button instance? I will read through this again and see if I missed anything. But I think that is the problem. thanks again.

can you save a copy of your product detail page, then try adding an add to cart button to this page, then posting the 'before' and 'after'.

i can try and help debug it for you

E-Cart Button Problems

Ok, here is the detail page that I grabbed from home before I added the ecart business and I was able to search, select one of the items and see the details of that item and update or whatever. Now I can go through the search and see the my items listed but when I click on any one of them for details I get a blank page? No Error Message? So items_Detail is the one with the button (that now I can see but it is all screwed up looking), items_Detail2 is the one without the button. I appreciate any help you can give me. Oh, I am also experiencing issues with the email_PW.php page since yesterday afternoon. Do i have to post questions about that in another thread in a different forum?? Please advise.

ok, i've had a quick look through.

I noticed a few things on your items_Detail.php which don't seem right.

$Safety->GetContent(); is declared twice, lines 8 and 11

the // WA eCart Redirect is declared twice, around lines 131 and 137

starting from around line 345, you have forms for rainbow_1_ATC_, Safety_2_ATC_ and Safety_1_ATC_

after changing a bit of code to make it work with my connections and recordsets, i tried placing an add to cart button on items_detail2, and it seems to work ok.

hope this helps

Ok thank you for the info on the items_details page, but I am still a little confused. Should I be deleting all of those instances and redirects and then starting over on that page. You said that by changing some code and redirect that you were able to get the items_detail2 page to work. Can you please tell me what you had to change in the code on that page before adding the button? Also where are you placing the button? Thank you for your help I will try to play with the items_details page now.

what i did was take itemdetails2.php

as i don't have your tables and connections, i changed the bits i needed to change so that the page would work with my data.

i don't even remember putting the cursor anywhere particular, but the 'add to cart button' wizard, placed the form at the bottom of the content div

So every place I try to put the button unless it is near the "details" text between the image and the item details below I get a "cannot place button inside of an existing form"??? This is why I have been asking where am I suppose to place my cursor to place the button- There are no example files of a details page with an add to cart button that I can find. Is there one out there that I am missing in my search. It would be great to have something to compare to.
