Shopping Cart Transfer

Shopping Cart Transfer

We have a shopping cart that we would like to transfer to a different hosting account.
Our web designer flaked out on us, so we have no access to the hosting. We do own the domain name and have log ins for that.

How do we go about that?

Thanks.

In order to transfer the data you will need to get to the files. The eCart files all make use of server side code, so there is no way to access the code without having access to the pages.

If you do not have access to the files you will not be able to transfer what exists.

We are completely rebuilding our website adding the shopping cart as part of it. We will be accessing the data files on our own hosting. We just want to get access to whatever templates or files come with the purchase of our shopping cart.

Ok, I see. You will need to talk with sales/customer service to see if this is something that you can work out and get access to the account. If you have the account login info you could login and visit the download center to obtain any of the purchased extensions. Here is our contact page with details on getting a hold of them:

Is each purchase assigned to a particular domain name? Or, is it just a template/software for any domain name that you install on your hosting account?

Each purchase is associated with a particular user. You are required to login before purchasing, when the transaction occurs the order is recorded for that user and the items available to them from the download center while they are logged in. It is this login info that you need to gain access to the products. For eCart the product is an extension that is installed into Dreamweaver. When installed it wil allow you to add functionality to your pages for commerce. You can then upload these files to your live server to make use of them in your site.

Can you use the ecart extention to create shopping carts for multiple pages or per each domain (assigned at point of purchase)? And do you have to have to have the "Provided by WebAssist" logo on the bottom of your page?

The eCart extension will allow you to add commerce functionality to your pages. We have another commerce product called PowerStore that is a per site Solution Pack. This one is marked with the WebAssist logo. These are two different items and are used in different situations. If you have an account that has purchased them then you can make use of the tools. If you would like to obtain them you can purchase directly from our site or by contacting sales.

My page is www.RugsOnBroadway.com
Which service is that? And is it dedicated to my domain name or is it a template?

It looks like a standard Powerstore installation which can be found on the WA Site here.

Whoever takes over your site will need a licensed copy of this software unless you can get the original set of files of your previous developer.

Hope that helps.
