Credit Card authorization problem

Credit Card authorization problem

I have a UK webstore that is set up to take payments through PayPal Website Payments Pro UK. We take credit card payment or PayPal payment. Recently we have not been receiving payments through credit cards and after some testing realised there was a problem when someone wanted to pay with credit card, they would be redirected to the payment failed page.

I have examined the confirm.asp page and in particular the eCart Local Checkout server behavior. I noticed on step 5 'Use PayPal Express Checkout' is unchecked. I was on the understanding that Express Checkout was the credit card payments part.

Would I need to fill in this section in order to get the credit card payments working again? If this is the fault I have no idea what may have changed this to revert back to it's inactive state.

One further question, if someone wishes to pay by debit card then they usually would need to provide a card start date or issue number. I cannot see where this is added to my website.

Hope you can help

Many thanks

Kelly

When you are using Payments Pro the pay by credit card portion is referred to as Direct Pay, the pay by PayPal option is called Express Checkout. If you enter you cc details into the checkout page then you should be going to the confirm page. From this page you should be able to a confirm the transaction and go to the either the success or failure page depending on the status of the transaction.

If you are getting to a failure page for either method you should add in your full request and full response bindings for the checkout on the failure page. When you run a test this should let you know what the problem is with the transaction.

I forgot to mention that the full request and response bindings are available from the bindings panel, just look for the local checkout group.

Many thanks for your reply. I have added the Full Response and Full Request to the page and I acan see where the problem lies, although not sure where to fix it. It looks as if the the problem is with the CVV2, I have double checked the CVV code I am putting in for testing and it is correct.

The following is the Request and response I am getting on the failure page, I have replaced sensitive information with asterisks:

Your transaction could not be completed.

Full Request

It definitely seems that the cvv2 is not matching up according to the response info. Before you marked out the details was the correct cvv2 present in the full request? Also, are you testing this with the sandbox or trying to transact with the live servers? If you are using the sandbox then you may need to make use of specific testing card values for this. If you are using the live server for the transaction then you may need to contact the merchant provider to get more details about the error message you are getting.

When it comes to processing the card like this it is all done by the merchant gateway, so if they are not accepting the values you are passing there isn't much that we can do in the code to resolve the problem. Please check on these details and let us know what you discover.

I have managed to resolve this issue :)

I had spoken to PayPal who could not give me a clear indication as to the problem but upon rechecking the FULL REQUEST I noticed that the expiry year for the credit card was a four digit number so I tried to put a transaction through with just a two digit number (11 for 2011) and this worked.

So it appears that PayPal on my Website payments pro UK account will not accept four digits for the year expiry. I changed the input form element from a text field to a list menu listing years from 2010-2016 and setting their values to two digits. This has worked perfectly.

Many thanks for your help and I hope this helps others with a similar problem.
