Content not updating - Updates location instead!

Hi, Started a new thread for this!

My Client is pasting content from note pad. The content is not being saved/updated.
What I see as super admin, is the Content Location name being changed ??
I cannot duplicate the problem, have you any ideas???

I'm not sure of the steps that are being taken so it is difficult to determine why this woud happen. Would it be possible for you to do a screen share with your client and watch the steps that are taken that result in this? This will be the key to determining what might be going wrong, we will need to know the exact steps taken to produce the issue.

Pipe Character a culprit

Hi Eric, Thanks for your reply. I have since discovered that the pipe character " | " caused a lot of chaos. Once I removed this from the text, all was fine.

No hurry, but if you know why and/or if there are other examples of a character throwing the database, could you let me know.

Thanks

As far as I know it should be able to make use of all sorts of special characters. Where exactly was this pipe character entered to cause the problem? I was not able to get this result myself when updating a content area name with a pipe in it. Any info you can provide on the steps I need to take to get this result will help us determine what is going wrong and how to fix it.

Example

Hi Eric, This is what I tried to paste into the content

Level 1 North Building
180 London Circuit, Canberra City

02 6262 9333 | www.craftact.org.au
When 25 June – 31 July 2010

Instead of updating the content, It reveted back. Also in the Activity page, The location had part of this url above - see previous screen shot.

I took out the pipe and it all worked as it should???

Thanks for that, it was what I was needing. I can see why this would occur, the pipe character is the same one that is used by the code internally to differentiate between the different values. So everything after the pipe is looking like a different value to the cms. I have opened a ticket for you on this issue so we can look into the problem further.
