Problem - Image uploaded successfully message, but actually doesn't upload the image?

Hi,

using the latest version of HTML Editor, when i go to upload an image, it says it successfully uploads the image, but then i cannot set it in the file browser, and when i check on the server, its not there either.

The folder that the images are being uploaded to is set to 777 (unix server).

Default Manager is installed.

Thanks.

Have you checked in any other areas on your server for the file? If you are getting the successful upload message it usually means that the upload occurred without error. If the upload directory was not set exactly rite it could be uploading the files to a different part of your server.

What happens if you try to insert an image after uploading it? Do you see a broken path to the image?

Same Issue on Image Upload

Eric:

I am using WA iRite and having the same problem. It seemed to be working find a couple of days ago. It was uploading images in the /userfiles/ folder on my server permissions set to 777, but now it show the message that it is being uploaded; however, the image is not in the userfiles folder. In fact, I cannot locate it on the server at all??

Best,
Renea

Clue to Problem?

Eric:

Not sure if this will help you with the solution; however, I noticed that if the image already exists in the /userfiles folder on the server. The image populates the editor correctly and the Source code for that image looks like so:

<p><img width="96" height="151" alt="" src="/userfiles/avoderm.jpg"></p>

however, if the image does not already reside in the folder the Source code looks like so:

<p><img src="/userfiles/catpic.jpg" alt=""></p>

I receive a message stating that my image has upload; however, it is not in the /userfiles folder??

Hope this information helps...

Best,
Renea

Same Problem

I'm having same problem. Upload appears to work fine. No errors. But the file never shows up.

Help. Upload not working either.

To follow up... How do I trouble shoot the upload? I've double checked the folder location. Permissions are fine. Click on upload, the file appears to go. Message tells me upload was successful, but in the small HTML display of the Image panel I get a broken link symbol. Checking the file with DWs "remote" view, it is not there.

I can manually upload files to the proper folder, and then place them without incident in the HTML Editor window, but upload appears to get lost when uploading via the HTML Editor. How do I troubleshoot this?

How have you configured uploading in your HTML Editor instance? Please review the details about the steps you have taken to get this on the page. Also I think it would be worth you trying to add an new editor instance to a whole new page and try uploading with this one to see if there might be a problem with the first one. When you post back with the details please also include the page in question, the HTMLEditor folder, and a copy of the db as an sql file all in a zip archive. This will allow me to directly test your pages with your data.

How I configured it

I followed the instructions on the "HTML Editor getting started guide"

First, I created a folder in the same directory where my editing pages reside. I changed the permissions to allow write privileges.

Using an existing DB insert page (constructed with DataAssist) that already inserts properly, I replaced a form field by inserting an HTML editor with the same name.

I checked to allow file upload in the "general tab"

I removed many features in the "tool bar tab" to simplify for my client.

Clicking on the global upload button, I selected the above mentioned folder for image upload.

Uploaded the page to the server, along with any other files changed.

Let me try starting with a fresh form page, and go through the process again to see if I run into the same problem. I'll get back to you.
