Improving search from dataassist

Hi,

I have a search page generated from data assist. It searches 'Open Issues' for one of my sites. Each issue can have several states, i.e. an Open Issue, can be one of the following:

Logged
Assigned
Contact Made
Solution Provided

Where as 'Closed' can be one of the following:

'Non Problem'
'User Error'
'Solution Accepted'

The search page works great if i specify one of these (populated via select list), but i want to change the search so that the select list only shows 'Open' or 'Closed' but that the search actually searches for one OR any other from one of the lists above.

I hope that makes sense, any help appreciated.

Thanks

Andy

my problem is that i want to group these options into 'Open' and 'closed'. But

Using the DataAssist Search Keyword search type, you can set the characters top create an OR separator. Set the OR Separator to be a comma, and set your open closed select list to pass each state as a comma separated list.

<select name="state">
<option value="">Select a State</option>
<option value="Logged, Assigned, Contact Made, Solution Provided">Open</option>
<option value="Non Problem, User Error, Solution Accepted">Closed</option>
</select>

see attached screen shot for an example of the data assist search settings for a keyword search type.

Jason,

As always you made it look simple, but when i tried to implement it i hit an old problem. If i make the changes you suggest (think i have it right but couldnt see the attachment too well) the changes arent saved and it gets overwritten with the default.

I have attached examples of the screenshots for you to see. Also if i try and change the code by hand (not sure if this is right) and the changes you recommend on the search page the results i'm getting are not adding up.

Again i have included samples of this. I can upload any of the full pages if this will help.

Please let me know.
