Preparing to Move Powerstore and Powergallery

I've been working on my PS3 site, which I installed in a folder titled "new_site". Since I have an eCart site currently live, many of files in the PS have the same name. I'm going to want to make the site live soon and am getting nervous about moving it. I will simply have to move all the contents up one level to the root. Should I move the files in Dreamweaver locally first, hoping it will redirect any necessary paths? Then upload?

I have PowerGallery installed in the same new_site directory, but am avoiding putting the links into the PowerStore until I go live, because I know those paths will not change. I tried moving the PowerGallery "gallery" folder to the root already. It functioned fine in creating a gallery, but it did not preview or give the right paths - it still referred to the new_site. So this has got me worried. I hoping/guessing that if I move everything, the PowerGallery issue will resolve. Or not. Just trying to be prepared. I'm about a month away I'd say.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, and warnings of what I can expect.

You should be fine to just move over the files and export the db. You will need to update the site specific settings in the db inside of the wa_settings table. In here for both PowerStore and PowerGallery the local root, remote root and root URL are listed. This is probably why your gallery did not work for when moved into the root of the site.

You will need to check on the wa_settings table for these values and ensure that they get updated to the correct values for the target server. If you have a look at these values you should get an idea for how they are currently setup and how you should update them.

Great. I took a look at that table and understand what to change. Thank you.

URGENT HELP with moving site to make live

Hi,

I just tried to make the site live and have killed everything. Any page I try to go to is redirected to this page: index.php

There is no install folder as that was something that I removed per instructions through the initial set up. I changed the root info in the wa_settings table per your instructions. What can I do to fix this?

I only moved some of the files over to test this. Maybe there's a particular file that needs to be moved for this to work? I didn't want to override everything on the live site with a test file.

You will need to move the connections folder over to the new site. You will need to have a folder called Connections in your site and it needs to have the installed.txt file in it.

This is what is being checked when you login to the admin, if this installed file is not inside of the connections folder then the installation process will start over again.

Thanks. That solved that problem.
