Data assist crashing

Hi,

For some reason today data assist is crashing when i try run the wizard.

I used it to genrate me insert update results etc pages. the reults page never display the modular images i chose even though it showd in preview.

no when i try re run it to generate my resuls page it just hangs on checking file activity in dreamweaver pop up.

i tried deleting my cache file, tried the normal restarts and checked i could connect to my site via ftp. also tried re naming the generate file names within dreamweaver to see if the default names were causing an issue but nothing. i cannot get data assist now to work at all.

can you guide me through anything that could be causing the issue??

many thanks

have you tried renaming your configuration folder:

146/

Also, make sure to have the latest version installed.

thanks dani, i deleted it not renamed it as i have done in past. uninstalled and reinstalled. the error i have is this section:

8. Constant "Loading Database Schema "
This usually happens when you are using the remote server as the testing server. When the wizard pages load, they sometimes need to communicate with the MySQL server to return column names for the table you are working with. When Dreamweaver tries to access the database, it will try to create the following file on the web server at:
<URL Prefix>/_mmServerScripts/MMHTTPDB.php .

Where <URL Prefix> is the URL Prefix you set on the testing server tab of the site definition.

When using a remote testing server, Dreamweaver can sometimes lose the FTP connection, then it will hang on the "Loading Database Schema" dialog.

Using a Local Testing server instead of the remote server can help alleviate this problem.

Note: Your remote database server may have blacklisted your IP. Call your host, and see if they can whitelist your IP on your database server. When you use a remote server as your test server, you tend to connect very frequently with the remote server (far more frequently than you would in a live/production environment). This can trigger a block.

Which does not really help as it is a remote server.

thanks

It seems that you can't connect to your database from Dreamweaver, which is normal because a lot of database connections don't allow for remote connection.

I recommend that you set up your site locally and access a local database, and then export and import the database to your live database when you are ready.

thanks dani, it had been working fine. It is working now, however when i generate my results page from data assist it does not show the modular view buttons etc in code at all??

yet if i run through it with another type of button it works. i have un installed and re installed. is this a known bug?

thanks

I have reported this potential bug to our QA team. They will try to reproduce it and get back to me with a bug number if they find an issue. It sounds like a bug if it only happens with that particular design. If that is the case, we will get it fixed for the next release.
