Search notworking

My search feature is not working, returns no products found.
ALSO: When clicking on the category or subcategory it also returns no products found. It looks like there are no products posted whatsoever on the site.
Shouldn't these two levels of categories return all products listed under them?
The products only show up when the actual product category is clicked.
Help please.
Thanx

Do you have a link to your store so I can take a look at this behavior?

Also, make sure that the products you are searching for are products you've made live and not products that you only have on the admin side.

SSS/
The index page also shows the results of using the theme-it program to change icons.
I have an additional request in on that.
Thanks

I tested the behavior and I was able to get products to show up for subcategories and search works when there is a product in the subcategory. Adding a product to a subcategory doesn't add it to the category. You will have to add it to both the category and the subcategory for it to show up in both.

What browser are you using to perform the searches? Are you accessing the categories and subcategories through the sidemenu or the top menu?

search

I am accessing both side and top menus when testing this, and I am using mozilla firefox.
This is the specific problem:
When you select the TOP category, and click on it, such as On The Move it reads Product list - no results found. It looks like there is nothing in this category - no products - no subcategories. Should it not at least list the subcategories on the page? Should there not be at least an opportunity to put a representative category picture or description?
The page is very bland and uninviting, and totally uninformative. The top categories should go to an introductory page for their particular categories, and link to subcategories and specific products.

I will try selecting the different subcategories and products to see what I can get to come up on the top category results pages but it seems to me that there is a fundamental stage in the search process missing here.

ALSO: Any help on the Theme-It question I also submitted? It totally screwed up my home page formatting. Thanks

The reason no products show up in the category is because you didn't add the products specifically to the category. You only added them to the subcategory. To add a product to more than one category, you would want to hold control or command depending on your operating system while selecting the different categories. The reason it is done this way is so that you have more control over the products that get shown in a category.

If you're accessing the categories or sub categories from the top menu, a search is being done, so the side menu will not be open when you access the categories or subcategories. If you access them from the side menu, the subcategories will slide open.

It looks like someone is already taking a look at your Theme-it issue and will get back to you as soon as possible on that.
