$ Currency €

I have slowly gone through as many of the pages as I can to manually change the currency symbol from $ to €. You mention that there are a few pages (about six) that the symbol needs to be changed on. However I have changed at least 20 pages at this stage already.

I have searched through the forums and the only help I can find is that I should search the entire site for "USD" and change to it to "GBP" of what ever the currency is. I hazarded a guess and put in "EUR" since there was no mention of currency codes anywhere.

I have done my best to change all the symbols but I have come accross the $ within the "Monthly Product Revenue Totals" Open Flash Chart. This is under the Revenue Chart of the Orders menu item.

This has to display the € symbol. Can you please advise.

I have checked into this and I found that there are three data pages that have the $ in them that will need to be updated for the charts to display the other currency symbol.

To update the charts you will need to open these three pages:

DynamicWebCharts > Data > home_data1.php, orders_Chart_Daily_data2.php and orders_Chart_data2.php.

With these three pages open bring up the find with Ctrl+F and set it like this:

Find In: open documents
Search: source code

Find: $#val#
replace with: %E2%82%AC#val#

Then click on the replace all, it should update the charts to use the Euro symbol instead of the dollar. Let me know if you have any other troubles with this.

Euro Symbol

Hi Eric, I am about to set about changing a virgin powerstore install from dollars to Euro. What is the recommended approach for this? Is it really as messy as the above posts would suggest. I have no problem changing code but would have expected to make the change in one variable only.

Many thanks

Jon

You can get at most of the currency symbols by just doing some simple find and replace stuff, but there are a few that are hard coded within php or script code that this will not work for. You definitely cannot do a global find and replace since php variables start with the $ symbol.

In general you will need to update this for the cart object, then for the display on the public pages and finally inside of the script for a couple parts. For example if you change the item options when viewing the detail page the new price based on the options will show. This price has a $ in the code for it so you will always see it there unless you change the code reference.

If you have any trouble with any part of this let me know and I can help you get things worked out.

Euro

Hi Eric,

Do you have a list of pages where I need to edit dollars to Euros. There are so many pages and alot of code. Since a find replace is not an option I am a bit lost.

I do find it a bit odd that changingf the currency is so hard. I do not think I would have used this cart if I knew it was built just for dollars. I think your sales pitch is a bit misleading.

However, for now, if you can help, I need a bit of help knowing exactly what and where I change the code to get all in Euro's.

Thanks Eric

Jon

I think that most of the currency symbols are covered here in this document:

ps_changing_currency.pdf?

The only ones that I know of that are not covered are the ones for the charts in the admin area. Let us know if you have any further problems with this so we can make any updates that would be needed for the doc.
