Help with users and admins

I have been through the tutorials for DataAssist, SecurityAssist. I am setting up a Wholesale product site, trying to use the supplied Ecommerce Database from WA. Here is what I want to do....

The whole site (a subdomain from their main site) needs to have restricted access to accounts that are set up by the admin. So.... with the database supplied I cant find a "user level" field to designate the admin from the users.

I am assuming I need to -
1) Try to setup the DB provided to have the proper fields I need to do this. (How do I do that?) Also I need to have a "size" option on my products. Not sure how to do that either. I have used phpmyadmin and can insert fields but I have no idea if I am doing right. Like I entered a field in the users table named "UserLevels" and restricted it to a 1 digit integer. I figured "1" for admin and "2" for regular users.

2) once I get the DB fields right, I assume I need generate the admin "back end pages" - I went through the tutorial and could not figure out how to grant only admins ("1") access to all those php files that allow you to edit and search and stuff.

3) after I get the admin able to edit the DB stuff through the generated php pages, I need to somehow setup the users to be able to browse the products after logging in....

Aw, my brain hurts! and I havenet even got to the shopping cartstage yet!!! this all sounded so easy on the site before I purchased the Ext Lib ...

I think you are trying to handle a few things at once and it would be better to deal with these things one at a time.

To start with you will need to edit your users table in the db and add in the column, it sounds like you already have this worked out.

The next thing you are going to do is use the DataAssist Wizard to generate the administrative back end pages. You do not need to worry about securing them yet, you need to get them created and ensure they are functional first.

Once that part is all done you can then craft the front end pages of the site that the users will see.

The very last part of this will be to use the Security Assist wizard to generate the set of register, login, and update profile pages. Once you have used the Security Assist wizard to generate the pages you can then create your admin and user rules. Finally you would apply the appropriate restriction rule to the pages you want to restrict access to.

This is just a high level overview for how you should proceed. You should start at the top of this list and work your way down. In the end you should have the setup that you have described. Once all of this is done you can then think about the commerce aspect.
