clear session ids on both domains (original domain and ssl domain)

our ssl pages are using the hosts ssl so the domain is different.
so our domain is www.mydomain.com
and during checkout it goes to mydomain

everything works fine except......

on the success page i have added the code to kill the session. and it does - but only for the ssl domain. once you go back to the main domain the items are still showing as being in the cart.

any ways to get the kill session to kill on both domains?
or any tricks to make it kill on both?

you will have to add the code to kill the session to a page on the www.mydomain.com site. Here's one way it could be done:

on the checkout_success page, add a Continue shopping link:

<a href="http://www.mydomain.com/catalog.php?clear=1">Continu Shopping</a>

the clear=1 query string variable can be used to trigger the kill session code.

php:
<?php if(isset($_GET['clear']) && $_GET['clear'] == 1) { ?>
<Kill session code>
<?php ?>
