Start cart from dropdown - impossible?

Start cart from dropdown - impossible?

From what I can see - the only way to work with dynamic products is to put the add to cart button on a repeat region with a recordset.

I've been asked to start the cart off by selecting a single product in a dropdown list.
As that only has one value (I'd assume you'd add the ProducID)

that adds one (ID) item to the cart - but how do you get the rest of the information in? when using a dropdown?

seems impossible to use dropdowns for adding anything but a single value - ie a donation?

thoughts appreciated

in other words

if you can get the ID of a product in the cart - how would you 'push' its corresponding name, price, qty etc in?
I suppose you could now do a recordset based on that ID and then add to cart?

any easier way of doing this via code??

Your select list should pass the Item ID, you then create a recordset that is filtered on the ID passed by the select list.

use the add to cart server behavior. Go to the serer behaviors panel, click the plus button and select eCart -> Add to cart -> Add to Cart. set the trigger to occur if the recordset is not empty. On the bindings panel, click the lightning bolt next to value for each cart column and bind it to the corresponding recordset column.

thank you Jason. Yes that seems to have worked.

This would be a nice addition to eCarts functionality if it could be done via a Wizard.

ie

Add to cart from Select - this page - sets up dropdown and code
Add to cart from Select - ProductID from POST, SESSION Etc - just inserts the add to cart code
