EMS Presets Don't Use EMS

EMS Presets Don't Use EMS

Hi. Over the weekend I needed to create a new site design with CSS Sculptor 3 on my Mac with Dreamweaver CS4. Although I selected a layout preset featuring text in EMS, within Sculptor the text size displayed in points or something other than EMS. EMS were not selectable as an option within CSS Sculptor.

To verify that I did not choose the wrong preset, I quit Sculptor and then reopened an EMS layout. Same problem.

I ended up having to manually edit all the font values in the generated CSS.

Although I seem to recall this problem being discussed with older versions of CSS Sculptor, I could not find a solution today in a forum search.

What is needed to restore working EMS presets?

Thanks in advance. ...pt

I just did a quick test and i was able to set the text size to use ems.

One thing you could try is changing the focus once you set the font size to use ems by hitting the tab key or clicking the apply button for the preview since DW does not save if the focus is not changed.

Perhaps you misunderstood, Dani. But when opening an EMS preset, the default text settings were not specified in EMS. Yes, I could reset each font setting manually in EMS, but that should not be necessary!

I ended up using the Preset Manager to remove all my existing EMS layouts. I then reimported a .Zip folder containing all the current EMS layouts.

Once I did that, the layouts worked correctly (as they did in the past).

OK, i can see the issue you are referring to.

When you said you reimported, did you mean you imported v2 layouts, or did you get the working ems layouts?

I downloaded the most recent EMS layouts that WebAssist had available in my account. As I recall these were available with the various other CSS Sculptor 3 files. I don't recall the versioning of the layouts themselves.

But once I used the Preset Manager to remove the EMS layouts that were misbehaving, and reimported this new set of EMS layouts, the layouts worked properly. The layouts once again displayed the font sizing in EMS.

Thanks.

I did some research, and it looked like the EMS layouts are shipped with Sculptor actually only uses the ems for the width of the outerWrapper, which is why we have the additional Ems-based text layouts to download in the download center. But i can see the confusion when selecting an EMS layout in sculptor and pixels are being used. I will look into this issue more and see if that is something that needs to be fixed in the future.

Thanks for your response.
