eCart 4.5.2 Shipping Quote Failed using USPS

As luck may have it dealing with the eCart leads from one issue to another... I re-installed eCart 4.5.2 in an attempt to correct a shipping calculation error I was having using USPS over charging for shipping a (1) ounce item at a cost of $38. (at least then the transaction would go through) Now I'm having a problem with 'Shipping Quote Failed'.

According to the "Release Notes" this problem was suppose to have been corrected which is why I downloaded the most current version of the eCart4.0 series available. I have going through the checkout wizard (5) time, and each time I get the same results. I think a name change is in order. If checkout is a "Wizard" then inevitably I'm a God, and nothing is further from the truth than that!

The PDF that I downloaded with my eCart extension was created explicatively for using UPS, and even at that the step sequence in that PDF file are out of date. They don't match the flow of the current version of eCart4.0 or later. In the PDF step 4 & 6 are out of sequence.

My question is:

Where can I find the most up todate/current instruction on how to configure eCart4.5.2 using USPS as the primary/default carrier?

This one step forward and two step backward has got to end. I know that you guys working on the other side if this forum are far too knowledgeable to let this persist. I need this to work, and I need it soon please.

Thank you,
Jw

If you are getting a failed shipping quote request, or the quote is not what you think it should be the first thing you should do is put the full request and full response bindings for USPS onto the page you are seeing the bad results on. Here is the code that you will need to add to a page:

php:
<?php

//WA eCart UPS Shipping Include
require_once("WA_eCart/WA_eCart_USPS_PHP.php");
?>
<?php
echo "the full request is " $_SESSION['eCart1_USPS_FullRequest']; ?><?php echo "<br/>The full response is " $_SESSION["eCart1_USPS_FullResponse"]; ?>

If your cart is named differently then you will need to update the part of the code that says eCart1 to the name of your cart.

Put this code on the page where you would like to see this information, then run a test. The information in the full request and response should let you know exactly why you are getting the failed shipping or the amount of the shipping.

eCart 4.5.2 Shipping Quote Failed using USPS

Eric,

Thanks for your response. However, I find that I work best when I have detailed instructions to work with.

Is there a up todate PDF or traning video file that has the 'How To' configure eCart for USPS?

Thanks,
Jw

We do not have a guide that is specific to setting up USPS in eCart. Using the server behavior is all that is required to get USPS quotes implemented. There are instructions on this server behavior in the help at Help > WebAssist > eCart > using eCart.

If you are getting bad results or errors you will need to use the bindings on the page you are getting to to show the full request and response.

eCart 4.5.2 Shipping Quote Failed using USPS

Eric,

I followed your direction about adding the 'PHP Code' that you posted earlier. In fact that line of code was already on my cart.php page. I also revisited the 'help > WebAssist > eCart > using eCart' instruction again. And the problem I'm running into trying to follow along with these out of date instrucion is as I mention at the beginning of this post. I'm not sure if Web Assist realize this or something would have been done by now! If there is any one there that a successfully config. USPS following those instruction I would more than delighted to see the code? The setp secquence is way out of order.

Is there anything more that you can share with?

Thank you,
Jw

There is no problems with the USPS shipping quote server behaviors in eCart 4.5.2 that I'm aware of. I have opened a ticket for you on this issue so that we can look into the problem further. Please update your ticket by logging in and visiting your support history:
