Connect to mysql database error 405

hi,

this is not really a WA question, but i am ahving problems connection to mysql database on hosted server with cs3

error 405 comes back everytime. i have another pc in office which another user has cs4 on and this connects to db no probllem but this user with cs3 has issues connecting.

i have tried the web but seems no one has any resolution to this.

has any members or staff came across this and that could shed any light on this?

many thanks

My guess is that the host MySQL server is set up so that it does not allow outside computers to connect unless the computers IP address is in a list of allowed computers. Most likely the cs3 computers IP address has been added to the list, but the CS4 computers IP address is not.

no there is no allowed list specified, the 2 user pc's are on same network with same public ip address. it looks like a common error when googling with cs3 but no one seems to have answer. i downloaded from adobe website replacement scripts file but made no difference at all.

thanks

how is the testing server tab for the site definition set on the computer that does work?

are you using the same server, username and password when creating the connection on both computers?

hi jason,

yeah same exact settings for connecteing to db, same host etc

very strange, if you look out there it is a common issue with cs3. cs4 is fine but cs3 not, i tried re installing and turning off firewall but did not work.

port 3306 is open for to connect to mysql database but still error 405 method not allowed comes up.

tried getting help from adobe forums but to be honest their community forums are rubbish and all quite up themselves so no joy so far and by looks of it people have same issue with this being unresolved on forums.

very strange.

i think you are the man to resolve jason :) i believe in you.

you did not answer these two questions:

how is the testing server tab for the site definition set on the computer that does work?

Well done jason, i knew you were the man!!

i copied the settings exact from cs4 to cs3 and it worked.

looks like going into advanced mode in site definition was way to do it rathr than simple.

seemed to through it out.

cheers

Yeah, you should always use advanced mode when configuring your site definition to connect to a remote host.
