How to Move Entire Site with Content from Test to Live Server
Question -
What steps do I need to take to build a Site Sculptor site locally with CMS content and then move the site and it’s CMS content to our live server.
Background -
I have browsed the forum for help but did not see it. If this is a redundant question – my apologies – please point me in the right direction. I should also add that I am a business owner – not a web developer or IT guru!
I am building a new site using Site Sculptor. I have successfully defined the local testing server (using XAMPP) and all is working well. Our live server has a functioning, non-Site Sculptor site which I want to remain up until we are ready for a complete change-over to the new site. The old site is very unstable and will like not be able to be successfully reinstalled if needed. So, I need to make sure the new site works the first time!
My concern with the documented Site Sculptor work flow is that the new site needs to be loaded to the live server – then the content is added. This is not what I need to do. I wish to define all the content locally and move the site with database content up to the live server. (I use Sysyog to move the SQL tables to and fro.)
I have built a test site which works fine on the testing server. When I attempt to upload the test site to a “Test” subdirectory on our live server I cannot get the CMS function to operate at all. I am sure there is some simple setting I need to change, but don’t know what it is. I have attempted to manually move the MySQL tables created on the local test server up to the live server for the “Test”, but do not know what changes need to be made in the wa_settings table or anything else!
Thanks for any and all help!
