How do you use the delete option for a field?

Hello. I have built an update records page that works well. I can update a thumbnail and various text fields. Problem is, I cannot figure out how to delete something. So, this page if for a property. It has has 14 thumbnails and a text field for the alt tag. Let's say I want to delete thumb #14. How could I do this? I could rename the server file name for thumb 14. Or I could delete the actual file on the server. It would be nice if I could do both. How can I accomplish this? I see that File Manipulation has a delete and rename behavior. I could not get either to work for me. Any ideas? Thanks!
