I've sat back and thought about these 'solution packs' that WA have been providing for some time, and in a way I think they conflict with the audience of their 'Extensions'.
When I first started using Web Assist (2-3 years ago) they had a clear direction in that they provided developers with extensions to help build solutions. Now they have no real direction and are just doing whatever they can for who they can to make a fast buck.
We are seeing tools that are being amalgamated meaning that you have to buy functionality that you might not need - why not just sell a super suite on its own and have done?
I'm actually quite concerned about the future of Web Assist. It rather seems to be shooting itself in the foot.
My advice to WA is scrap the Solutions that you sell that compete with your extension customers (I mean really, come on!) and concentrate on the extensions, which, apart from the CSS Form Builder and iRite have all been pretty good.
I understand that WA need to make a profit, but they are doing this by providing solutions that compete with their own customers and it doesn't take much intelligence or common sense to realise that this is going to jeopardize one of their types of customer.
