MySQL Connection Won't Connect

MySQL Connection Won't Connect

Mac OS 10.5.8 and Dreamweaver CS3 with User Registration Solution Pack

I've set up a database and uploaded the empty table.

In Dreamweaver, I opened the "Database" window and opened the "MySQL Connection." I filled out the connection name, used the server's IP address for the "MySQL server," and put in the user name, password, and database name.

When I clicked the button to test it, a window popped up and said, "An unidentified error has occurred."

I tried clicking the "Select" button beside the "Database" field (which I filled out), but it said the same error.

I spoke to tech support at my hosting company. He tested it for firewalls, put in my computer's IP address for access, and allowed universal access, but I still received the same error every time.

I gave him the exact information that I used in the fields (including the IP of the server) and he connected.

A couple of days later, I called my host again. This time, a different tech support guy and his supervisor tried all of the same steps. They confirmed that they could get access, but I still couldn't.

What should I do?
