This is a problem because the insert and update server behaviors that we have rely on using this same character as the separator for the values. When I have encountered this in the past I have been able to work around it by altering the code for the insert and update server behavior. I first change the "|" character that is listed in the value string, changing it to be like this works for me:

"*|*"

Then further down in the server behavior find the values code that looks like this:

php:
$WA_fieldValues = explode("|", $WA_fieldValuesStr);

Then update it to match the new characters you have like this:

php:
$WA_fieldValues = explode("*|*", $WA_fieldValuesStr);

If you have any trouble with any of this post back with the page in question and I can't point you to the specific lines you will need to change.
