Menu too long to fit form

Menu too long to fit form

I just created a dynamic form menu and it's working great. Except .

When online, the menu is way too long. I know that the database record (field) is set to 80varchar and that's causing it. When I reduced it to an amount that would work, it truncated the data. So I lost that.

I have been able to get the table back from backup but I'm wondering how I can apply some css to the form menu inside dreamweaver so that when the menu is not selected it stays at a specific size and when it is selected it opens to the needed size?

Anyone has any ideas? I know I have seen it implemented on several sites.
