What Problem Did the New Forums Solve?

The old Forums were pretty bad, let's admit to that at least. There was a lot of information in there that I referred back to, but the search process was limited and the results page full of re: pointing to the same thread was annoying. It was clunky and disjointed - with threads covering complaints, answers and requests all mixed together that you had to have experience of to navigate. We need a
"Questions I asked in the old forum - can that person answer it again" thread!
