Morning Mike,
You can build a CMS simply using Insert/Update/Delete statements. Yes WebAssist can deploy a simple CMS within a few clicks but it has issues and looks tired. I suppose if you want straight out of the box click and play simple solutions it may be acceptable but clients demand a lot more these days and WebAssist just falls behind in that regard unfortunately. We are repeatedly asked for Bootstrap based platforms (over 90% of clients want it for some reason and who are we to argue). I know a lot of hard work and effort went in to the WebAssist extensions and do not wish to belittle any of the developers who were involved with its creation but I am sure they themselves know it needs updating ;)
