using cms to manage google analytics script

I created a global script content field so I can make sure all my pages are using the same google analytics script. I opened the editor, opened the source editing tool and pasted the php script given to me by google. I then copied the developer tool associated with the field and pasted that into my template which should update all my pages. when I am logged into cms and I open any of the pages that were created from the template, I see the "edit" tool at the bottom of the page, and I can navigate to confirm the script is there. Unfortunately google is only reporting activity on the index page and not the other pages. Is developer tool scripting created from CMS always pointing to a template page? Any suggestions?
