Do I need anything from MySQL?

Hi, I'm a newbie just getting started. I purchased Dynamic Suite and have set up a XAMPP local testing server. Does this give me all the MySQL language/programming I need to add a shopping cart to my website, or do I have to install something from the MySQL website?
