echo a variable on the blank.php template

Hello,
How do we write a variable that is available on the parent page POST that uses UE, in the template (blank.php)?

For instance, I am uploading an image and would like to take the value of:
$imageName = $WA_DFP_UploadStatus["WA_UploadResult1"]["serverFileName"]; ?>

which, shown here is assigned to the variable $imageName, and use this on the template page.

such as:

something <?php echo $imageName; ?> something else...

It seems the methods that load the Template are somehow removed from the variables that are present during the creation of the email object. I know that my uploading is done prior to the email as well as setting the same values to the DB. But I can't seem to write a var to the template page. Any reasons why and or how to overcome this?
