This extension does not require you to use PHP. However, if you want to take advantage of any database-driven components (i.e. add a CMS), you need a web server that runs PHP 5.2 and your database needs to be MySQL 4 or MySQL 5. If your computer is not already set up to be a web server, we have tutorials that will assist both Windows and Mac users.

Setting up a PHP testing server will make your life easier when you start using more dynamic/database-driven components of this product, such as the content management features. A testing server will allow you to run your entire PHP website on your local computer for testing, and also allow you to manage your database without uploading to a remote server.
