System requirements

Dreamweaver CS4, CS5, CS5.5, CS6, or CC

Windows or Mac

This extension does not require you to use PHP. However, if you want to take advantage of any database-driven components (i.e. add a CMS), you need a web server that runs PHP 5.2 and your database needs to be MySQL 4 or MySQL 5. If your computer is not already set up to be a web server, we have tutorials that will assist both Windows and Mac users.

You will also want to define a dynamic site in Dreamweaver and create a database connection if you are creating a database-driven site.

arrow downFrequently Asked Questions

I'm new to web development, where should I start?

If you are new to developing websites or have never used a Dreamweaver extension, we suggest you start with Design Extender's CSS tools. Read the CSS Sculptor Getting Started Guide - or in Dreamweaver, click on WebAssist > CSS Sculptor and use the help links in the wizard, as needed.

Do I need a PHP testing server?

Setting up a PHP testing server will make your life easier when you start using more dynamic/database-driven components of this product, such as the content management features. A testing server will allow you to run your entire PHP website on your local computer for testing, and also allow you to manage your database without uploading to a remote server. If your computer is not already set up to be a web server, we have tutorials that will assist you for both Windows and Mac users.
