Still trying to get Dreamweaver, Web Assist, and testing server working...

I have changed over from IIS 7, which I couldn't get anywhere with, to xampp. I uninstalled IIS 7, turned it off in the windows environment, uninstalled php andy mysql. Went to xampp and installed xampp to my external hard drive, pulled up the configurations page, set the password, everything worked fine so far. Testing server seemed to work great.

Then followed the David Powers tutorial video on defining a php site in dreamweaver using apache php. Again, followed along, the phpinfo page came up perfect in live view, so again, testing server does seem to work.

Next, I followed the same process to create a powerstore site in dreamweaver, creating a site folder in the testing server top folder and putting all the powerstore files in. Opened the index page, clicked on live view, and get this message:

Warning: require_once(Connections/localhost.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in L:\xampp\htdocs\powerstore\TMP3vnrqsg7ba.php on line 2

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'Connections/localhost.php' (include_path='.;L:\xampp\php\PEAR') in L:\xampp\htdocs\powerstore\TMP3vnrqsg7ba.php on line 2

It does seem like Dreamweaver SEES the files because I have the connection to the database, it found the database...and when you expand the "tables" tab it does list the tables that are in there...but live view brings up the above errors, and if I click on WA_CSS Menu Writer Edit Content, I get this Dreamweaver error message:

The databas connection(s) required for this content preset do not exist in this site. Please create the following connections to use this preset"

Connection: localhost
Table: productcategories
Columns: CategoryName, CategoryID

This looks to me like you are previewing the files from a temporary location. This may have some effect on the linking of the pages. In your DW preferences under the preview in browser settings there is an option you can check to have the pages previewed from temp files. If you have this option checked you should uncheck it then preview the pages to see if the error still occurs.

Can you confirm that the connection folder and file are in the root of this site based on the setting defined in the testing server for DW?

This solved both problems! It was the temporary files setting in my preferences...I unchecked it and Menu Writer started working for me and the testing server works! Thanks! I appreciate both you and Jason helping me on this!
