Payment failure

Just put in the credentials for PayPal Pro and am in the testing mode in Store Settings and Payment Gateway Settings. Currently set for PayPal Express Only.
When I click the "Checkout with PayPal" button I'm taken to pp_checkout_failure.php

the error being returned from paypal is:
Security header is not valid


this error means that there is a problem with the entered api information.

If you are using the PayPal sandbox, you need to use Sandbox api details, if you are doing a live transaction, you need to Use live api details.

That was more first thought and I've requested the sandbox details from the holder of the PayPal data.

I secured a sandbox account and not being able to find the info I needed was told they don't support the sandbox!??
I eventually found my way and secured the api credentials and a cert_key_pem.txt which I was told I would need later but not when or why.
The api credentials only include a username and password and no signature.

I'm thinking the cert_key_pem.txt should be up on the site somewhere but where?

I installed the UN and PW and left the Sig as it was and got the following response…

the cert_key_pem.txt is used for authorize.net not paypal express payments.


this is still the same Security header is not valid error message.

The client has done all that and has received all the necessary info.
But to use the sandbox I believe I need all that for the sandbox and have no idea where to get it - assuming it to be different from the actual username password and signature.

I am confused about one thing though.
When using PayPal payments pro and checking out with credit card rather than choosing the PayPal button is the data being processed through the PayPal gateway?

I assume that's the case and that the business owner doesn't need a separate merchant account or gateway - just PayPal.
