Uploading PDF files?

Using the admin function of Power CMS, I'm trying to edit some text by inserting a link to a PDF file. I select the text, and click on the Insert/Edit Link button. Using the Upload tab, I browse to the PDF file and click on the SEND to SERVER button. I am told that this is not a valid file type (PDF)! How can I do this?

I wonder if anyone can upload PDF files this way? Somehow, I doubt it. Yet I've looked at the js for the HTML editor, and it appears that it *should* be possible.

Where in the config is the pdf file format listed as the allowed for you? I have bee looking into this and I can get the same result that you are getting when I do not have it listed as allowed in my image types.

When I add it to the allowed image types I no longer get the error and can upload and link to the pdf file without issue. Here is what my settings look like for the allowed images inside of the config.php file at HTMLEditor > editor > filemanager > connectors > php:

$Config['AllowedExtensions']['Image']    = array('bmp','gif','jpeg','jpg','png', 'pdf') ;

What is the result that you get if you add it here?

Thanks! I would never have thought to add it to the IMAGE types configuration. I'll give this a try....

There may be a more appropriate way of enabling pdf uploading in the fck editor, but this method seems to give me the desired result. Let us know if you have any further questions or run into any problems.

Thanks Eric. What is curious and unexpected to me is that there is a similar allowed extensions config variable (in that same config file) for FILES and that one *does* include 'pdf'. In addition, a glance through the js file for the fck editor (fckconfig.js) shows this -

FCKConfig.LinkUploadAllowedExtensions = ".(7z|aiff|asf|avi|bmp|csv|doc|fla|flv|gif|gz|gzip|jpeg|jpg|mid|mov|mp3|mp4|mpc|mpeg|mpg|ods|odt|pdf|png|ppt|pxd|qt|ram|rar|rm|rmi|rmvb|rtf|sdc|sitd|swf|sxc|sxw|tar|tgz|tif|tiff|txt|vsd|wav|wma|wmv|xls|xml|zip)$" ; // empty for all

Note the presence of "pdf" in that list as well. At any rate, your suggestion does seem to work. I suggest that you add a KB entry about this unusual requirement.

I have noticed that as well, it seems that pdf and some other file types should not need to be added to the allowed images section to function but I'm not able to get them uploaded without doing it like this.
