May I ask you to offer a short dissertation [I know that's an oxymoron] about some of the function behind Cotswold?
Specifically on the "more details about this product" sections…
1. "Ask a question about this product"
2. The purchase options as a list of check boxes rather than a drop-down menu as it is by default in PowerStore2.
And also the main menu structure on the left of the page. Was that built using WA tools?
Thanks
Mick
Mick,
here is a brief overview on all the questions you posed:
1. "Ask a question about this product"
The site in general uses a lot of JavaScript built with the jQuery Library and that is what I used to build the sliding div mechanism that brings the form into view.
The form is populated with the product details using the recordset on the page and then hooked up to Universal eMail to send the inquiry off to the site owner.
2. The purchase options as a list of check boxes rather than a drop-down menu as it is by default in PowerStore2
This is one of the mods that I have done on a few sites apart from this one (Murranji Photography and Red Dirt Photography) and involves setting up a unique session for each customers shopping session via php's session_id() then insert the selected products into a temporary table with Data Assist's Multiple Insert Behavior, create a recordset based on the session_id() to draw out any products selected, use eCarts get Info from Recordset Behaviour to put the products into the cart form this recordset and then delete the contents of the temporary table before taking the customer to the view-cart page.
3. Also the main menu structure on the left of the page. Was that built using WA tools?
No, it was built using a jQuery plugin called Superfish. This structure is based on nested recordsets as that was the only way to get this structure to work. (this is not something you can do with standard DW server behaviours)
Hope that points you in the right direction.
