New FCKeditor Files

New FCKeditor Files

Does anyone know if there is a way to replace the source FCKeditor files in the IRite extension. Currently, I find myself replacing the the files of FCKeditor once they are on in the site's folder, but I would like to be able to speed up my development time in this area so that when I added iRite to my site, the latest files would already be there. I have poked around the extension but I don't see how the source files are integrated pre-deployment. Any ideas would be great.

Many thanks and cheers,

Brian

It should be possible to do this by updating the files in the editor source by replacing the /editor/ folder in the configuration.

It is in: shared/Webassist/RichTextEditor/Source/editor

Before you do this though you should make sure to back up your RichTextEditor folder in the configuration, in case there is a problem this will allow you to revert without re-installing. If you do not know how to get to the configuration folder here is a link to a thread that list the location of the configuration folder for various versions of Dreamweaver and the OS you are using:

Eric,

Thanks so much!

That worked perfectly! And, I recommend everyone else to do it if they want the latest version of FCKeditor which plays nicer with all modern browsers.

Thanks for getting this posted in the forums, if anyone else out there does this let us know if there are any issues you encounter with the newer version.

As usual, I am confused.
Are you saying that I should replace the "editor" directory located here…
"user"/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver CS4/en_US/Configuration/Shared/WebAssist/RichTextEditor/Source/editor

With the "editor" directory in my current download of the latest iteration of fckeditor located here…

fckeditor/editor

and none of the other fck related files above that level?
