For PayFlow Pro Customers Using ASP

PayPal is discontinuing support of the PayFlow SDK v3, which is used by eCart 4 for the PayFlow Pro gateway with ASP.

If you have coded your checkout with eCart 4, using Payflow Pro with the ASP server language, it will cease to work, beginning in September.

If you plan to use the PayFlow Pro gateway in eCart in the future, we recommend using PHP as this is the server language WebAssist will continue to support across our product line.

Unfortunately, we just discovered that ColdFusion is affected in the same way as ASP so the above post applies to both server languages.

Where the hell does that leave me then???

I've just spent more than 100 hours developing a new online store using eCart and now you are telling me your software that I have paid alot of money for is not longer supported when used in conjuction with PayPal and ASP?

As a UK customer who uses the PayPal Website Payments Pro service I need to know what you expect me to do???

You could leave your site running in ASP and create a checkout process with PHP, or you can edit the necessary lines of code by hand. The webassist code is openly viewable and could be easily updated by anyone experienced at writing ASP. If you want to continue to use WebAssist products you would have to migrate to PHP, since we will not be releasing or updating any ASP functionality in products moving forward.

Sorry but that is totally irresponsible and unacceptable, but then to be honest what else should I have expected form a company that doesn't have a support line or point of contact except for a discussion board!

Paypal has provided all of the information necessary to update. We have contact phone numbers, emails, and address all published on our web site and readily available. We're in the local yellow pages and have a picture of our office on the about us page. I think you can find my mug with a personal bio on there as well if you looked.

You can search your code for Server.CreateObject( it is in the include file associated with your payment named after PFPro. You would update the Server.CreateObject reference with the code provided by Paypal in their documentation on how to update this problem. Unfortunately we have moved away from the ASP and PHP server models and cannot continue to make code updates on those platforms in perpetuity.

I'm happy to talk you through it, but you are going to have to update the code and understand what you are doing to get it done. That means reading what paypal says you have to update and doing it in the associated spot in the code.

Maybe I am missing something but there were no links in the statement above?

I have coded ASP for 8 years and I am sure I can make the required changes but it doesn't mean I am happy with WebAssist deciding to drop all support for ASP customers using eCart.

Please can you point me in the right direction to get the updates completed.

We use the COM object solution that uses Server.CreateObject()

You can find the lines of code where we create and use the pfpro com object.... there are probably only 4 or 5 lines of code and they are in the include file named after the pfpro service.

Then find a code example for how to do pfpro in ASP using the new system. You should be able to find the corresponding 4 or 5 lines and update them. I believe it involves using MMHTTP instead of the COM object but I haven't actually seen any code examples of how to integrate the new paypal system with ASP, but I'm sure paypal will provide you with that information.

You've just re-iterated what you said in your previous reply to me. I understand there are 5 lines that need to be updated but in which files and what do those 5 lines look like etc?

Can you provide me actual line numbers, file names or example of what code I need to be looking at?

Also, where are the links you mentioned in your previous post that I can reference in relation to inttegrate my cart with the new Paypal PayFlow gateway???

This is the information I require as it pertains to your eCart code and keeping it working.

I have looked through the paypal developer website but I do not know where to start in relation to the code eCart creates...
