Problem with Initial Value on form Fields when page returns validation error

Problem with Initial Value on form Fields when page returns validation error

Support-

I am using the Form Toolkit and Universal E-mail 4 in DW CS5, although this seems to be a problem just with the Form Toolkit. I have added initial values to all the form fields on my webform to be dynamic using the form field. This is some example code:

<input name="realname" type="text" class="text" id="realname" value="<?php echo((isset($_POST["realname"]))?$_POST["realname"]:"") ?>" size="30" />

Works fine until I add the form validation for a couple fields and a captcha. The show if works fine but the problem is the the posted data doesn't show up in the fields after a submission with a validation problem (missing data or captcha failure).

Any idea what the problem is? Is it a bug or something I'm doing wrong? I've made sure the WA Server Validations Failed redirect is set to the same page. I've even tried leaving this blank and doesn't seem to make any difference.

Thanks

-Bill

Instead of using the post for the value, instead use the session the is created from the Server Side Validation. to do this select the input field and in the Property Inspector select the lighting bold next to the Init Val and expand the WA Validation Entries (pagename.php) and select the form field name. this should keep the initial value on failure.

I thought that is what I was supposed to do, but the problem is that in the Dynamic Data area that shows up I'm not seeing any validation options. Just the Session (captcha_Security_Code_1) and the form fields. I'll attach screenshots that shows all my options from that window. Did I miss a step setting up the Server Validations?

Try re-applying the Server Side Validation. In Dreamweaver, open the Server Behaviors Panel and open the Server Side Validation entry and press the OK button. this should recreate the bindings.

I think I tried that and no dice. Just to make sure, I did this:

From the Server Behaviors panel, I double clicked the WA Server Validations already in there. I then clicked ok on the Server Validations window that opened. I made sure to put any files that had been modified and it didn't work. I even tried clicking the refresh button from within the Bindings panel. I tried selecting the form field the server validations didn't have anything under it.

I'll attach some screenshots of my Server Validations window and Server Behaviors panel to make sure. If you need me to attach code, I can do that too.

Thanks

Any new ideas on this one? I tried installing my old validation toolkit version 2.3.5 as well as trying on my home computer and had the same problems. Once I installed the old validation toolkit, I did then see the WA Validated Entries show up in the Dynamic Data dropdown list, but when I choose it, it still doesn't show up on the return page when it didn't validate.

I even tried deleting everything and starting from scratch and no luck. Any suggestions? I've spent almost a day trying to get this to work and I'm thinking I should have stayed with the Universal Email 2, Validation Toolkit 2.3.5 and the Contact Form Solution Pack. It was more work to get it to work initially but it did work...

Keep in mind these are fresh installs of DW CS5, one with no other extensions installed before I installed the Universal Email 4 and Form Toolkit. So I would think that would work fine.

Just to post an update, I also tried purging everything from the page, all div's, any styling, pretty much anything else and just have a pretty clean HTML page and tried going through all sets completely from scratch with the same results. This has to be a bug. Does anyone else get this to work?

Could you please zip your files and attach them to this thread, make sure to only include the necessary files so I'm able to see the issue and try to find a fix for it.

Thanks.

Sposel afforded

Sure. It is attached here. I did include the folder for the captcha and email within the webassist directory which I assume you will not need, but just in case I left them there. I also assume by the code you will be able to determine the URL for the live page if you want to look at that.

Thanks

Thanks. I was able to confirm this as an issue with Form Toolkit.

I have logged a bug in our bug base and the fix should be in the next dot release.

Meanwhile, i have attached a zip that contains two files that should fix the issue. Please extract and place the two file in the following location:

Configuration/DataSources/PHP_mySQL

make sure DW is closed and delete the cache file before restarting.
