MySQL error#: 1045

I am trying to setup a dynamic MySQL database connection and I am getting this error when I click "Test":

"MySQL error#: 1045

Access denied for user 'cts_brett'@'localhost' (using password:YES)"

I checked the username and password for the MySQL database and I am entering it in correctly. The password has these two characters in it ] ( is that a problem?

Well it seems that my hosting company had to add a firewall exception in order for it to work, then I had to add my STATIC ip to the remote MySQL Connections list. All is working now.

The 1045 error means that the server is not accepting the username and password combination you are using in the connection. you should contact the host for help in setting up the database connection, double check that the hostname, username, password and database name you are entering is correct.

yes, but the user name and password and database name is correct , i followed the instructions from adobe : http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/first_dynamic_site_pt2.html

in the site settings, how have you configured the testing server?

Is it connecting to a local server? or a remote server?

If connecting to the remote server, the database connections details needs to use the remote settings, if the testing server is connecting to local server, the database connection needs to use the local connection information.
