User names and Authentication

User names and Authentication

Okay everything seems to be working, my users can log in, access and edit their information and all seems well.

Two problems: somehow I need to make it so my registration page requires both a username and password (not blank, currently I can just click register and it creates a blank user entry).

Also, now that my user has logged in I want them to only see/edit the information specific to them. I created a Id column in my user database and in my information database. I assigned the user the Id number that corresponds with their data. Now how do I tell my login page to send them to their data?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

use the server validation included with CSS Form builder to validate the registration page.

Go to insert -> WebAssist -> CSS Form Builder -> Server Validation. Select the required Not Blank validation, then click the lightning bolt next to server validation and select the User name form element, next click the plus button to add it to the list of validations.

repeat the process for each form element that should be required.

to show an error when validation fails, type the error in design view, the on the server behaviors panel, click the plus button and select Validation Toolkit -> Validation Show If. from the Validation fail list select the appropriate validation to trigger the error to show.

when a user logs in, the ID is stored in a session variable, you can use this session variable to filter your recordsets.

Refer to the recordset created on the profile page to how it is filtered, it will use the same session variable.

javascript error

I am trying to follow the above instructions, but when I installed the css form builder and try to use the server validation it gives me the following message:
While executing object tag in WAFV_Server wizard.htm a javascript error occured.

I tried clearing the cache file and even uninstalling the extension and re-installing. I have used several of the other extensions without a problem like this.
